709D Ridge Rd – Case Study

This property was built in 2009.  The main aim of the occupants was to have an energy efficient home that was comfortable and healthy to live in, and cheap to run.  It is a minor dwelling of 65sq m with attached garaging and is located on 5 acres of land adjoining the Paremoremo Creek.  The building is the first of three to be built on the site, the second being a workshop/implement shed and the third, the major dwelling.

A consideration of the impact on the local environment was made throughout the building process with waste materials kept to a minimum and left over materials either returned to the supplier or recycled wherever possible.  Extensive planting of mainly native shrubs and trees has been undertaken as time and finances dictate.
